Gary was born in  Wyoming (in the mountain region of the Western United States of America) to a  pioneering  ranching family. As a child he spent a great deal of time horse back riding and hiking in the wilds of Central Wyoming. He enjoyed  observing  the widllife and the  spectacular  diverse landscape that Wyoming has to offer. 

Gary's interest led him to study biology and art at college. Which would later serve him well as an artist.

Gary's love of the Western Rocky Mountains is reflective in his work. The  wilderness is of particular interest to him because of the way light and texture interact within the environment. This gives Gary the framework to capture, depict and  harness the beauty of his surroundings which he achieves with dramatic effect.

Gary is moved by the vastness and all encompassing spirit of Nature and hopes the viewer will be also in turn be captured by the all enduring spirit of wilderness and  find meaning within themselves.

His paintings have achieved this feat and there is an engaging presence about his work that takes you deeper and a vibrancy to also enjoy what the artist also sees and experiences..
